Chamber to Host Forum on Health Care

Small businesses looking to reduce their costs related to health care can gain valuable information from Dr. Steven Brown from the Texas A&M Health Science Center at a Forum on Health Care hosted by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. The president of Baylor Scott & White-College Station, Jason Jennings will also present information about the Brenham Clinic joining the Baylor Scott & White family and what it means to the greater Washington County area. This Chamber Forum will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 11:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Blinn College Student Center banquet room in Brenham.  Tickets are now on sale.

Steven D. Brown, MD, a nationally recognized leader in clinical operations management, joined the Texas A&M Health Science Center to lead a new comprehensive approach to clinical strategy and education in January, 2018. Dr. Brown serves as chief clinical officer and associate vice president of Clinical Strategy for the Health Science Center, and professor with the Texas A&M College of Medicine. Dr. Brown was formerly the vice president of clinical operations for Trinity Health Provider Network.

Before joining Trinity Health's system office team, Dr. Brown's prior experience included service as vice president and chief medical officer for Trinity Health's Saint Alphonsus Health System, a four-hospital health system in Oregon and Idaho, and president of the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group. He previously concluded a 19-year career with the University of Texas as an associate dean and tenured professor at UTHealth in Houston. He holds two degrees from Texas A&M University and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston and is board certified in internal medicine with added certifications in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Jason D. Jennings, FACHE is currently the president for Baylor Scott & White Health–College Station Region. Jennings is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences. He also holds master’s degrees in physical therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch and in business administration from the University of Texas at Tyler. Jennings received the 2016 Outstanding Alumnus award from Texas A&M University, College of Biomedical Science. Jennings is a native Texan and grew up in Arlington. Jason and his wife, Jennifer, have two daughters, Reagan and Taylor.

The forum will be moderated by Charlie Matejowsky of Van Dyke Rankin Insurance, an active Chamber member and past director and chairman of the Board and a long-time Blue Blazer.  At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Brown will take questions from the audience.

A buffet lunch is included with reservations and will begin at 11:15 a.m. Reservations are $25 per person for Chamber Members ($35 for non-members). Reserved tables of 8 are available for $250 ($300 for non-members).
