DESCRIPTION:The Unity Theatre Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Executive Artistic Director.  Kate Revnell-Smith has been selected following a nationwide search of almost 70 candidates.  Ms. Revnell-Smith has been serving as the Interim Artistic Director since the retirement of founding Artistic Director\, Teresa Beckers\, in May of this year and officially began her new position on December 1\, 2011.   \n\n	     Ms. Beckers is thrilled to have Kate join Unity Theatre.  "As a working actor/director\, Kate Revnell-Smith is no stranger to Unity and the Brenham community as she has shared her talents with us for several years.  I'm thrilled she has accepted the position as our new Executive Artistic Director because with her creativity and leadership we can expect new\, innovative programs and the same great quality of professional theatre." \n\n	     Kate has graced our stage as an actor in The Importance of Being Earnest\, Lettice and Lovage\, The Matchmaker and Angel Street.  Kate has directed Unity productions of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever\, Steel Magnolias\, On Golden Pond\, Educating Rita and The Foreigner.  She was also our Education Director for the 2010 and 2011 summer drama camps. \n\n	     Kate brings a wealth of theatre experience to her new position at Unity.  A graduate of the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York\, she has worked in the Houston area for over 25 years as an actor\, director and teacher.   Kate was co-Artistic Director of Actors Theatre of Houston and also served as Education Director of Chris Wilson's Studio for Actors for 10 years.  \n\n	     A proponent of education\; Kate has implemented a curriculum for both youth and adult acting classes for the New Year.  She hopes to expand the experiences of young performers by including them in our July\, 2012 Family Series play.  \n\n	     The Board of Trustees is thrilled to have Kate Revnell-Smith lead us into the future with the vision and artistic excellence we have come to appreciate at Unity Theatre.  The Board invites you to join them and the staff on Thursday\, January 5\, 2012 for a "Meet and Greet" with Kate from 5:00 pm   7:00 pm in the lobby of Unity Theatre.
