Quality and Manufacturing Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality and Manufacturing Engineer to work at our 100 + person facility in Brenham, TX.  This role reports directly to the Senior Lead Quality and Manufacturing Engineer. This person will be a member of the leadership team, touch all aspects of our business, and have the ability to influence business results globally. 
To support the production of products using proven technologies, products and/or processes to meet quality, cost, schedule, and performance goals.
Major Duties:

  1. Applies technical expertise, commensurate with formal training and job experience, in the production of products.

  2. Selects, designs or recommends tools, fixtures, and equipment.

  3. Develops manufacturing processes and procedures to reduce problems and cost.

  4. May oversee capital projects required for business growth in current markets as well as new industries.

  5. Develop and present manufacturing process training. Initiates and implements routine engineering change authorizations to maintain and update manufacturing and quality work procedures.

  6. Recommends design changes to increase quality or reduce problems and costs. Participates in discrepant material review.

  7. Responds to immediate production problems and improves process capabilities. May participate in presentation of test results and design reviews.

  8. Interacts with other functional groups, vendors, or customers primarily on routine technical matters.

  9. Interacts primarily with Production Control, Quality, Design, and other engineering functions. Seeks guidance and approval of supervisor or project leader before company resources are committed to customers or vendors. May interact with or lead process improvement team.

  10. Prepares detailed plans, generally spanning several weeks, necessary to complete assignments. Plans work to comply with project schedules.

  11. Supports capacity model and lean initiatives. May participate in lean six sigma improvement teams.

  12. May review customer specifications to ensure that all technical requirements are met when introducing new product.

  13. Analyze manufacturing yield and in-process data

  14. Estimate costs, production times, or staffing requirements for new product lines.

  15. Communicates with customers, suppliers, auditors, inspectors, and employees worldwide.

  16. Follows safety guidelines.

  17. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing-related engineering discipline

  • Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree preferred

  • Basic knowledge of the following manufacturing processes: CNC 3-5 Axis Milling -Vertical and Horizontal, CNC Turning

  • Strong welding background preferred – RSEW, GTAW

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, specifications, and drawings

  • Proficiency with parametric CAD software, Creo preferred

  • Knowledge of basic quality tools – PFMEA, Value stream mapping, DMAIC, 8D
