8:00 am - 5:00 pm, mandatory overtime

$16.00 per hour


The IT Support Technician will be responsible for general maintenance of defined computer equipment and for the resolution of identified technical problems for internal and external customers.


  • Test new software
  • Make software available as appropriate where requested
  • Ensure the anti-virus software is installed, kept up to date and working properly on all computer stations, where appropriate
  • Set up and maintain user e-mail accounts, when requested
  • Provide troubleshooting resolution and updating/upgrading of software
  • Maintain computer peripheral equipment, as requested
  • Assist other technicians on in the office where required
  • Keep a log of all technical faults (Service Desk Ticketing)
  • Liaise with external suppliers for the repair of equipment under warranty or maintenance contract
  • Provide troubleshooting resolution and updating/upgrading of hardware
  • Assist with and provide support/troubleshooting for server hardware
  • Set up, maintain and remove user network accounts where appropriate
  • Carry out routine network maintenance tasks
  • Be able to work on his/her own initiative
  • Demonstrate practical knowledge and problem-solving strategies
  • Have high quality inter-personal skills
  • Keep abreast of new developments in software and hardware
  • Ability to work with others, take direction, take ownership for producing quality work, while supporting process improvements
  • Required to attend meetings as requested

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Manager(this may include working in other departments where production needs are in demand)

  • College diploma or equivalent education/experience is required for this position
  • Completion of all training requirements for the position
  • Must be able to complete all tasks and functions required
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously
  • Requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 50lbs), sometimes for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work in noisy environment
  • Climate changing conditions
  • Must be able to work overtime and available for “on-call”
