JOB SUMMARY

The Meat Packer will pack or package a variety of meat products by loading materials and products into package-processing equipment, measuring, weighing and counting product materials, moving or lifting heavy objects, loading, unloading or stacking products or materials, and maintain a clean d safe work area.  They are also responsible for sorting manufacturing materials or products, operating packaging machine equipment, recording product, packaging and order information on forms and records.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Counts, measures, and weighs materials and products
  • Removes defective products or materials, placing them in specified areas for handling
  • Constructs, lines, and pads cartons, crates, and containers
  • Examines containers, products, and materials for quality control and ensures packing requirements are met
  • Seals, marks and labels containers, container tags, labels, or products
  • Enters packing, order, and product information in or on required forms, records, or other documents
  • Stacks boxes on pallets
  • Loads products and materials into package-processing equipment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to follow directions
  • Assess products for quality compliance
  • Good time management skills
  • Basic understanding of principles and processes of customer service
  • Reading comprehension skills and active listening skills
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry objects
  • Must be able to work 38 degree temperature
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • One year of general work experience preferred
