Mechanic Assistant/Shop Assistant

Description: Brannon Industrial Group, a leading provider in the scrap recycling and waste management solutions industry, has immediate openings for Mechanic Assistants/Shop Assistants at our Premier Metal Buyers facility in Brenham, TX.
Responsibilities: This position will perform varying duties but typically include:

  • Updates maintenance and repair logs.
  • Assists with inventory maintenance of replacement parts and equipment.
  • Inspects tools and equipment to ensure that they are in working order.
  • Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Assists senior technicians in the completion of project work.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Performs minor repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
  • Completes required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Assists with service calls for breakdowns.
  • Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
  • Performs other maintenance related work as required.
  • Fulfilling general maintenance tasks required, all while adhering to safety policies.
Job Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have steel toe boots and appropriate work attire.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to work in the field, as needed, in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Exposure to gasoline vapors and other mechanics fluids.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • 1+ years of experience in heavy equipment or auto repair desirable.
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
