A Holocaust Memoir
"The Red Handkerchief...A Holocaust Memoir" is a unique, seldom-seen glimpse into the lives of two members of the Dutch resistance, teen-age sisters Maria and Cartharina Spronk, and how they responded without hesitation as Adolf Hitler ascended to power and began his persecution. Their actions would place the two in prison and then in the Vught Concentration Camp, the only official SS concentration camp in occupied Northwest Europe,. The luncheon speaker will be Yvonne Ward-Hughes, the daughter of Maria. Mrs. Hughes will have her book, "The Red Handkerchief" for sale at the luncheon. Her mother, Maria, will be on hand to answer any questions.
