The Cooperative Extension Program in collaboration with Marsha Doebler, RN will be offering a Diabetes Education Workshop. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease, characterized by high levels of glucose due to the body's inability to produce sufficient insulin or to use insulin adequately. Diabetes causes damage in many organs of the body, resulting in serious complication and premature death. This workshop is designed based on participatory education methodology. It utilized principles of adult education and group work techniques that promote learning as well as progression towards a healthy lifestyle. The main goals of the workshop are to:
1) Improve and maintain the quality of life of person with diabetes or person who have diabetes risk factors;
2) TO prevent complication and incapacities;
3) To improve eating habits and maintain adequate nutrition;
4)To increase physical activity;
5)to develop self-care skills;
6) To utilize the available resources.
Please join for this workshop that will be offered every Tuesday at the Washington County Extension Office starting January 28, 2014 from 5:30pm to 7pm
