The pineywoods of east Texas host 8 species of woodpeckers and 3 species of nuthatches during the winter season. Join Darrell Vollert in Walker and Montgomery County for the search for east Texas woodpeckers and nuthatches. There is the possibility that participants will also see Wood Duck, Bald Eagle, Osprey, Blue-headed Vireo, Brown Creeper, Winter Wren, and wintering sparrows. Contact Darrell for details on the meeting place. Participants should bring drinking water, snacks, and a lunch in the event that we are not near a town during lunch time
