Plutopia FutureMusic Summit at Round Top Festival Institute
The Plutopia FutureMusic Summit features a spectacular Saturday night concert featuring DJ Spooky, Mari Kimura, and Patrick Flanagan (Jazari) in Festival Concert Hall, as well as symposia and engaging, interactive art/music/tech displays across the Institute’s 220-acre campus.
Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky, with the Telos Ensemble, will headline the three-day event with a breathtaking program of groundbreaking remixes, including Arctic Rhythms, Steve Reich’s City Life, J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, and Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik on Saturday night. Also featured are Mari Kimura (composer/violinist) and Patrick Flanagan / Jazari (the sole human in a cyborg percussion ensemble). Following the concert will be an amazing after party in our "Interactive Playground" on the Herzstein Plaza, featuring The Edge of Imagination Station stop motion interactive film studio, Light Painting, Dances with Projections, analog and digital audio toys and tools, and more, as well as appetizers from the Institute's award-winning chefs. Music by Dr. Strangevibe.
The FutureMusic Symposia are an opportunity for ticket holders to participate in talks and discussions that will cover topics such as: traditional and contemporary classical music, jazz, electronica, steamfunk, avant-garde and emerging composition, the relationship between machine, music, and physicality, robots and augmented instruments, the emerging DIY trend, future entertainment models and much more. Featured is David Stone, Academy Award-winning sound designer (Coppola's Dracula) and head of sound design at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
3-Day ticket holders will also enjoy a Friday night VIP reception with the artists and presenters in the lovely Menke House Parlors at the Institute as well as an engaging, moderated round table discussion after dinner, followed by an informal gathering on the Plaza to continue the conversations.
