Birding Lake Somerville
Since Lake Somerville was constructed in the early 1970’s the lake has played host to over 300 species of birds at one point or another. Several parks dot the shoreline around the lake. During this tour we will start on the south shore at Yegua Creek Park in Washington County and work our way around the lake. Participants should meet Darrell by 8am at the junction of Highway 36 and FM1948, which is south of the lake. Waterfowl, long-legged wading birds, raptors (possibly Bald Eagle and Osprey), shorebirds, marshland birds, and woodland birds will be seen during the tour of Lake Somerville.
