Christmas at Winedale
Tour Winedale’s historic homes decorated for a nineteenth-century Christmas. Travel from site to site in a horse-drawn stagecoach or Amish school bus and stroll along walking paths to visit the neighbors or the old Winedale School. Observe the neighbors spinning, weaving, or whittling their Christmas gifts in Hazel’s Lone Oak Cottage, see Mrs. Wegner pluck her goose for down, and watch the village blacksmith at work in his fire box. Children can drop by the Winedale School to make old-time crafts and pet farm animals in the barnyard. They might even see the Weihnachtsmann (Santa Claus) giving out candy coins. Everyone will want to go to the Theater Barn to enjoy a bowl of hunter’s stew while you watch Der Froehliche Gesangverein von Winedale German singers, listen to the dulcimer players, and enjoy the other entertainment.
