Transportation & Travel - Republic of Texas
Following the Lone Star - Transportation and Travel in the Republic of Texas. Texans in 1840's had several options to choose from when it came to traveling. From stagecoaches to steamboats and horseback to hiking there were almost as many options as there were roads and trails. How one traveled, packed and lived en route depended on the purpose of the trip as well as the traveler's social status. We welcome you to come out and visit Barrington Living History Farm to get an up close and personal look at traveling and travelers in 1840's Texas.
