Accounts Receivable Clerk

Summary/Objective

The accounts receivable clerk is responsible for the receipt and accounting of funds being paid to the organization. This role also serves as an auditor, ensuring that invoices are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed to account for the receipt of payment for goods and services completed by the organization.

 

Essential Functions

  • Applies customer payments.

  • Post invoices in accounting.

  • Researches and solves payment discrepancies.

  • Processes credit card payments and credits.

  • Make adjustments to accounts as needed.

  • Maintain vehicle loaner system and keys.

  • Assist with month-end closing activities and reporting.

  • Communicate with clients regarding billing inquiries, discrepancies, and payment arrangements.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours.

  • Office environment with occasional overtime during month-end or year-end close.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two to three years’ previous accounting experience.

  • Automotive accounting experience is preferred.
