HE’S CHOOSIN’ KTEX, I CAN TELL!
KTEX 106.1 Welcomes Gerardo Sproet to the Brazos Valley
BRENHAM, TEXAS — KTEX 106.1 is welcoming Gerardo Sproet, formerly of Houston’s 93Q Country, to its afternoon lineup, bringing major-market radio experience and a passion for community involvement to listeners across the Brazos Valley and surrounding Central Texas communities.
Sproet was on the air at 93Q from June 2022 through April 2026, progressing from weekend nights to weekday evenings before taking over the station’s full-time midday show in 2024. During his tenure, he was part of station teams recognized with an Academy of Country Music Award in 2023 and a Country Music Association Award in 2025.
His commitment to community service has been just as important as his work behind the microphone. At 93Q, Sproet helped support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital fundraising campaigns that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. He also created a livestream featuring local artists that raised more than $15,000 for St. Jude.
“He’s choosin’ KTEX, I can tell!” is how KTEX Program Director Cowboy Dave is welcoming the station’s newest personality. The phrase captures the excitement surrounding Sproet’s arrival and the station’s commitment to bringing engaging country radio to the communities it serves.
Born and raised in Missouri City, Texas, Sproet spoke Spanish before English and enjoys fitness, hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He looks forward to getting to know the local businesses, organizations and listeners that make the region unique.
Locally owned and based in Brenham, KTEX 106.1 serves communities across a 12-county area. The station continues to invest in experienced on-air talent while maintaining its focus on local events, community relationships and country music.
Area residents and Chamber members are invited to welcome Sproet to KTEX Country and tune in to KTEX 106.1 FM for his afternoon show.
